Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

How we support student wellbeing

What we offer

Supporting each student’s mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing is part of everyday school life.

We do this through:

  • teachers who help students feel welcome and included
  • access to school counsellors, school psychologists and specialist staff
  • access to our Wellbeing Hub and student support officers
  • programs that support health, social skills, attendance and positive behaviour
  • help for students who are new or changing year levels
  • clear expectations for behaviour and respectful relationships
  • staff who get to know each child and work closely with families
  • developing health care plans for students
  • open communication about wellbeing and support.
Our school values

At WHS we have the well-established values of Excellence, Respect, Integrity & Compassion.

These values are the basis for the behaviour that we expect in all areas of our school, our community and in our society. We use these values to explicitly teach positive behaviours and expectations. These values also reflect the type of world we hope our students can positively contribute to.

Excellence

To be excellent is to:

  • Do your best at learning activities.
  • Bring the equipment you need to learn.
  • Complete your homework & assessment tasks on time, to the best of your ability.
  • Be persistent in the face of challenges and difficulties.

Respect

To show respect is to:

  • Allow others the environment to learn.
  • Use language that is appropriate for school.
  • Take care of the school's environment, facilities and equipment.
  • Wear our uniform with pride, everyday.

Integrity

To have integrity is to:

  • Be accountable for your choices and their consequences.
  • Be on time for lessons.
  • Have your mobile phone is off and away, all day.
  • Act in a safe way.

Compassion

To be compassionate is to:

  • Treat others with care and kindness.
  • Use inclusive language and to challenge discriminatory behaviour.
  • Give people their personal space.
  • Act with others in mind.
